Balik kampung...oh oh oh...Balik Kampung...

Hahaha I think I need to explain a bit here. The price difference is due to the fact that those fishes served in this restaurant are caught (by other ppl) from the wild (Sungai Perak) while most river fishes u get at other places are reared. So not all the time one can eat a certain type of fish. The 16kg sultan fish is one of the example. I heard that ppl go there just for the fish...dunno la...But i noe everytime go back sure got order the full of wok hei yau mak. I guess WMW wont be thrilled about the place. lolz

After cheng beng (hokkien term for All Soul's Day) at Penang, time to head over to Perak for my dad's side. Yupz...orang Perak but not orang Ipoh...aih...anyway, from highway till I reach dad's hometown or rather "home village" , one will only see rubber trees, rubber trees and more rubber trees. Yes...Kampung Ayer Kala is only 30 minutes away from Gerik, so go figure.

It was a really super hot day where a person can become dark even just by staying in the house. I use to be happy to balik kampung. Now I felt dreaded just mentioning the word "balik kampung" ... :S Luckily techonolgy saved my day. Lately, they suscribed Astro and changed the tv. So I fed myself with AFC from 12 noon to 9pm. lolz...Of course with the occasional makan breaks.

Ahhh...yes...makan...never been so easy when the restaurant is only next door. Can you imagine the smell that wafts to the house when you are watchin AFC? Hehehe....

We have lunchs and dinners at our restaurant neighbour. To start off, 50 biji fresh bouncy fish balls was served. Not sure what fish they use but definitely one will never get such bouncy and crunchy fish balls. Each balls cost 50 sen. Full of fish flavour with some hint of dried mandrin orange peel. This restaurant had recently purchased a new machine that could produce 1000 biji fish ball per minute 0.o

Yum stir fried enoki mushrooms came after fish balls. One whole plate of enoki mushrooms!! ^^

Too many people eating so I could only take picture of all the dish together. There will be a fresh caught river fish that accompanies every meal we had. This is river patin fish. Wild patin is very different from the rared ones. No mud smell and solid smooth flesh. Thumbs up!

Initially we were suppose to have another type of fish but a 16kg 'sultan fish' just got delivered to the restaurant, we changed to have patin and sultan fish.

The owner recommends to have the stomach part. This time the fish doesn't have small fine bones and its so soft-smooth just like eating the layers of pork fat!

This is dinner. The next day we had lunch there too. Different dishes. The pai kuat wong was sooo tenderly soft...gosh...no pictures...too busy eating lolz...

My next door restaurant neighbour (Sun Kwong) is located in Kampung Ayer Kala, Perak. Try to come before meal hours, else they will be packed with customers.

Happy drooling~
